Video, video and more video! This podcast wraps up our series on the most effective strategies for digital marketing today. And, no, it’s not the last one because it’s the lowest priority. In fact, video may very well indeed be the HIGHEST priority of all of the strategies we’ve covered in the past few weeks.
We do, however, take a very different approach to video in this podcast than most do. In fact, we basically ignore YouTube in this podcast and instead focus on an even HIGHER PRIORITY for video that you should be focusing on FIRST. Curious? Check it out…

So that’s why we step back and first address this #1 most critical use of video in your business first. The truth is that it can be the key to building a better list, increasing your user engagement, increasing your trust and rapport with your list and dramatically increasing sales – all without ever even publishing a single video onto YouTube. very interesting podcast. i to have beem guilty of working on youtube before my own site video. thank you for remembering me to fix my site first
Hi Tarif,
Yeah, don’t worry, we all fall into that trap. As Mike and I said on the podcast, we too, are in the process of adding video throughout our site experience, so you’re definitely NOT alone! But it’s very important and that’s why we podcasted about it and that’s why we’re doing it on our site as well. The fact is that video creates a much better bond with your viewers and the results can be dramatically different throughout your sales funnel.
Thanks for tuning in!
Thanks Troy for your insight about how to create scripts – that’s an easy approach I think I can do. I’ve always been scared off of video because of the scripting process. Every time i try to just “wing it” they turn out bad, but when I try to script them, they also turn out “mechanical” – i have to give this approach a try…
Yeah, remember, this is an easy way to create scripts, but not necessary the best way to create POWERFUL CONVERTING scripts…
For that, I highly recommend James Wedmore’s Visual Sales Magic training course. It’s spot on and gives some very easy step-by-step guidance for creating powerful converting video copy – great stuff!
Make sure and stop back by in a couple weeks and give us an update on how it went for you using this approach…
my problem is all of the expenses related around video… the lighting equipment, the recording equipment, a teleprompter, the time it takes – just seems so overwhelming – is it really even worth it?
Ed.
Hi Ed,
Thanks for your comment – trust me, you’re not alone here… MANY people don’t include video in their marketing for the very reasons you’ve laid out, but, as always, there can be a middle ground. Video will always be a bit more complex by it’s very nature – you need quality video and quality audio plus a nice editing effort to produce a quality result. But there are lots of people that will do most of the work for you very reasonably.
You can get intro clips and outro clips done at Fiverr.com, for example. You can have people create a slide show style video from your audio on Fiverr.com as well. That leaves you just doing the script and the audio. As for the equipment, you do NOT need super fancy equipment. The microphone we use costs $70 – that’s it – and I use my iPhone to film the videos as per Jules’ suggestions in his iPhone Video Hero course. This course, by the way, is not only an excellent training resource for using your iPhone for pro quality video, but it also has tons of resources where you can find all of the latest accessories and iPhone gadgets for sound, stands, lighting, etc… and is also a great training course to boot.
Checkout our Marketing Toolchest – we’ve got tons of great resources for video and just start out simple Ed. You don’t have to do it all at once, just start small and take that first step into video. Then, over time, gradually work to improve your process and your setup. It is worth it for sure because the results you’ll create in additional sales, people opting into your list, people staying on your list and much, much more will all pay off big time.
Hope that helps!
I created a lot of videos on Youtube but wasn’t getting any visitors to my site after listening to your podcast, I came to the conclusion that if people originally land on your site by doing a search for videos in that specific niche then they wouldn’t need to click over anyways because they would already be where they need to be. Smart idea you guys. One less thing for me to have to work around. Damn Youtube about sucked all the traffic fun from me without me knowing it.
I like the podcast more than I do the videos for me anyways. But, with this being said I would much rather watch someone than having to stair into space while listening to them. I do, however, love that you guys offer a transcript with yours so I don’t look so silly when someone walks into my office. Thanks for everything you share.
Thank You Frank.
